Home Valley, Washington is located at the confluence of the Wind River and the Columbia River. There is a riverfront County Park with ball fields, sandy swimming beach, children's playground, picnic area, and restrooms in Home Valley. There are also two RV parks, a gas station, mini-mart, motel and cafe in Home Valley. The boat launch is located at the mouth of the Wind River leading boaters into the Columbia River, for reportedly some of the best fishing.
Carson, Washington is a small unincorporated town about 6 miles east of Stevenson. Carson is considered the gateway to the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Old Man's Pass, and Mt. St. Helens. The Wind River Highway runs dirctly through Carson. Here you will find the Carson Mineral Sprpings Resort-established in 1897. This resort includes facilities to take a hot mineral bath soak, 28 rooms, a new 18-hole golf course, and more.
Stabler, Washington is another unincorporated community in Skamania County. Stabler is also known as "Hemlock". Stabler is located in the southern-most region of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Stabler is also home to the Wind River Canopy Crane which is a research facility that studies the eco systems of old growth forests and the forest canopy.
Skamania and Skamania Landing, Washington are located about 15 miles west of Stevenson along the Columbia River. Skamania Landing is an older sub development with some homes having river front lots. There is a lake, boat ramp, and parks for the homeowners use. In Skamania there is a general store, public school, more rural residential homes, and plenty of hiking locations.
