Hood River Real Estate Update

Yesterday the Hood River City Manager declared a snow emergency in Hood River. We do have a lot of snow and more expected during the week. I've never seen so much snow here in the 15+ years I've lived here. My husband has been shoveling and shoveling to try to keep up. We have at least 2 feet in our driveway and yard and they say another 4-7" tonight. I84 closed yesterday afternoon due to blizzard conditions and remains closed between Troutdale and Hood River.

Winter arrived on Saturday Dec 13, 2008 in the gorge. We currently have 4-5" of snow in Hood River and 22 degree daytime temps. Here are some of the views we are enjoying now. This is looking North at homes on the White Salmon Bluff. Most roads in Hood River are snow packed. More snow is predicted for Wednesday and Sunday.

Here are some holiday events planned in Hood River.

Dec.19, 2008- Christmas candlelight concert  7pm at Riverside Community Church located at Fourth and State Streets in Hood River.   There will be performances by students of Wahkiacus Seventh Day Adventist Church School including five octaves of bells and three octaves of chimes. Christmas carols  sung by the children's choir and special flutist performances.

Dec. 20, 2008- Children's Christmas Party   2-2:30 pm at the Hood River Elks Lodge located at Third and Cascade Streets in downtown Hood River. This is open to all children. There will be games and photos with Santa.

Dec. 20-21, 2008- Christmas Tree Trains to Parkdale  10 am Ride the scenic Mount Hood Railroad to Parkdale.

Dec. 20, 2008- Christmas Dance for seniors and their families  7-9 pm at the Hood River Adult Center located at 2010 Sterling Place in Hood River. There will be music from the Jazz Generations (1930's to 1960's) All seniors and their families are invited with free admission. Light refreshments will be served.

Dec. 22, 2008- Christmas Recital-benefit for the FISH food bank  7 pm at the Riverside Community Church located at Fourth and State Streets in Hood River.  Admission is free and donations of nonperishable food items or money for the FISH food bank are encouraged.  Solo and duet performances and a Christmas carol sing along.

Surprisingly we haven't had any snow in Hood River yet this season. Here are some gorge snow photos to remind you of what we could be enjoying or not. Personally  I don't miss having snow but I know there are plenty of others who want to go skiing and snowboarding and are dreaming of a white Christmas.

The latest sales data from the RMLS for Klickitat County is in. These sales comps reflect only properties listed on the RMLS.  Unlisted or fsbo properties are not included. There were 6 total residential sales and  2  total unimproved sales for Klickitat County for Nov 2008.  Here's the break down.

White Salmon- 2 homes sold $400,000 & $475,000

Snowden- 1 home sold - $203,500

Husum- 1 home sale- $925,000 

Goldendale- 2 homes sold - $130,500 & $276,500

Unimproved Lots and Land Sold- 2 total sales- Goldendale-$65,000 & $92,000

There are currently 10 homes and 9 unimproved lots/land sale pending in Klickitat County.

How about the Providence salad with grilled chicken, apple wood smoked bacon, hard boiled egg, avacodo, cherry tomatoes, creamy vinaigrette + baby greens. For dinner you might enjoy Garam Masala Vegetarian Curry with chickpeas, spinach, butternut squash, carrots, cauliflower, almonds, coconut milk, garlic + rice blend or Pacific Sea Bass pan seared with a caper, olive, garlic, tomatillo, tequilla green sauce + rice blend. These are just a few of the many items available on the menu. There is also a full bar.

You'll enjoy the charming dining atmosphere with river views. The rustic building was remodeled using many reclaimed wood products. Outdoor dining is available seasonally.
